The Moyo Center
Pioneering Inclusive Education
Across Sub-Saharan Africa
The Work.
The Moyo Center’s mission is to transform inclusive education in Rwanda and Sub-Saharan Africa through cutting-edge training, professional development, research and community building.
This year, the Demonstration Phase is being launched and includes creating model classrooms in two schools, developing custom curriculum, and piloting teacher trainings.
The Visionaries.
Nathalie Muhoze Furere and Paulin Basinga are Co-Founders of The Moyo Center.
Inspired by their journey as parents to their amazing sons, they are visionaries committed to reshaping the landscape of autism care and advancing inclusive education in Rwanda and across Sub-Saharan Africa. Their work reflects a deep dedication to a future where every child has access to the support they deserve to thrive.
AEP’s Role.
AEP serves as a high-level strategic partner to The Moyo Center.
AEP supports program development, provides financial oversight, manages donated funds, and leads targeted communications for resource mobilization.
In addition to these efforts, AEP assists in capacity strengthening, systems development, and outreach to ensure long-term sustainability.
Together, we are creating a future where every African child, regardless of ability, receives the education and resources they deserve to thrive.

Demonstration Phase.
The Moyo Center is currently being registered in Rwanda as a nonprofit organization. The Demonstration Phase of The Moyo Center began in September 2024 and will end in August 2025.
Phase 1: Inclusive Classrooms
The Moyo Center will renovate special education classrooms at Saint Vincent Pallotti School in Masaka and Saint Ignatius School in Kigali into model spaces. Disabilities of current students include autism, epilepsy, hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, and dyslexia.
Phase 2: Teacher Training
The demonstration classrooms will serve as a hub for practical experience and skill development, empowering special education teachers to better support their students with tools, expertise, specialized curriculum and assessment frameworks.
Phase 3: Overcoming Barriers
The demonstration phase aims to overcome key barriers faced by students, including the lack of proper diagnosis, under-trained teachers, and limited resources, to enhance educational outcomes. By collaborating with stakeholders, the initiative seeks to promote inclusion and accessibility in both schools and communities.
The program will conclude with the development of a proof of concept report and a strategic plan for the next phase.
The Future.
We envision building a state-of-the-art facility in Rwanda that serves as the heart of The Moyo Center’s mission to foster inclusive education and community empowerment.
This custom-designed space will feature inclusive classrooms, therapy rooms, family consultation areas, a resource library, and residential facilities, providing comprehensive support for children with disabilities and their families.
Beyond education, our facility will serve as a vibrant community hub, hosting external events, offering a community café, and creating a welcoming space for collaboration, growth, and social connection.
